Leona Lillian Abban is a microinsurance expert and pioneer in the industry. She has spent 12 of her 16 years in the insurance industry focused on designing and implementing some of the most innovative microinsurance products in the market. Joining MicroEnsure Ghana (MIC) in 2011, Leona grew within the company, ultimately leading the team as the Country Manager and Vice President of Insurance Operations. In that capacity, she developed and maintained the company’s key distribution partnerships. She was an integral part of the team that were the first to launch mobile insurance in Ghana with Tigo and Airtel.

Leona was recognized with the Women in Banking and Finance Award in January 2020 and was named ‘The Micro Insurance Personality of the Year – 2020. At Turaco, Leona leads the growth of our Ghana business, supporting our vision to insure 1 billion people.
